N.Z. HOCKEY ASSOCIATION

EFFECT OF AUSTRALIAN’S VISIT,

By Telegraph—Per Press Association.!

CHRISTCHURCH, September 17.

At a meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Hockey Association, a letter was received from the - Australian Association conveying, thanks for arrangements made during the recent tour, and paying a tribute' to the work of the referees. The "Wellington Hockey Association wrote asking for a frank expression of opinion from all associations regarding the utility of visits from Australian teams, from the point of view of finance and general benefit to hockey. The Secretary reported that all Associations which, had had matches with Australians, had come out well financially, except Wellington and Auckland.

The Auckland Association would have made a profit but for the bad weather experienced on the day of the match.

The New Zealand Association had made a very satisfactory profit on the tour. The Australians had played hockey of a satisfactory standard, and undoubtedly the game had benefited in New Zealand.
