NEW SYSTEM COMING

CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 15. The transmission of photographs by telegraph will soon be an accomplished fact in New Zealand. The system was recently installed between Sydney and Melbourne, and the Post-master-General, the Hon J. B. Donald, announced on Saturday night that it was to he installed in the Dominion.

Mr'Donald said that the system was to he installed at an early date betvyqen Auckland and Wellington, and, following on that, between Wellington and Christchurch and Dunedin. “We’ve got to make a start there, as we expect most of the business between Auckland and , Wellington.” he said, “but Christchurch will not be left in the cold.” He added that, if thercj were any improvements that could be made on the system now operating between Sydney and Melbourne, they would be made in New Zealand.

In respect to radio telephones and conversations between England and Australia, Mr Donald said that the officers of his Department, were ali\e to the position. When the time came to have radio telephones, they could be assured that the Dominion woull not lag behind.
