ing Westport’s last line of defence and goaling. COAST 3, BULLER 0. Play shortly after ended with the Shield changing hands, Coast winning by 3 goals to nil. Messrs Sara and Richmond were referees. At the conclusion of the game, the teams and onlookers assembled in front of the grandstand for the ceremony of handing over the Shield. Mr W. Hart, President, in carrying out the duty, congratulated the Coast on the game they played. The win ( was a merited one. The stick work | was very clean and the earn wont good. It merited victory. He had much pleasure in handing over the Shield to Miss Stapleton. (Applause.) | Mr Hart then called on Miss Stevens to receive the miniature Shield presented by Mr Rudge AVood for the best Buller player. Cheers were then given for the winners and the losers. 1 Mr Richmond said they had come several years for the Shield and at last had got it. They hoped to see Buller team down at Greymouth next ! season in quest of the Shield. He thanked Mr Hart and the Buller people most heartily for the grand time they had given the visiting team. (Applause.)
