PARTY PROSPECTS.
(Australian Tress Association.)
(Received this day at 8 a.m.) CANBERRA, September 13,
The Prime Minister announced today that the election date will be October 12th. He is delivering a policy speech at Dandenong, Victoria, on September 23fd.
Mr Scullin (Leader of the Opposition) declared to-day that Mr Bruce will have to take the full responsibility for the expense of the election. Doctor Noth states he will oppose MiHughes if it is the wish of Hughes’ electorate, speaking through the local Electoral Council. MELBOURNE, September 13. Opinion in Victoria is that the Bruce ministry will gam seats at the coming election, it is expected at least two extra. BRISBANE, September 13. The fact that Sir Littleton Groom (Speaker of the House of Representatives) abstained from recording his vo.te in favour of the Government upon the 'fateful amendment is the subject of adverse comment in Queensland nnd elsewhere. 1* is highly likely that he will be opposed by an accredited Nationalist candidate.
