FATHER OF 30 CHILDREN.
LONDON, September 6
William Robinson, aged 61, a Nottingham builder’s labourer, has registered the birth of his 30th child. He had 24 by his first wife, and six by the second, 22 boys and eight girls. Seven-, teen children are living, of whom three are married, and five of school age. Robinson told the “ Daily Mail,” that he could not keep such a big family if he were not a teetotaller and a non-smoker. He is happy and never worries. AFTER “ THE DAY.” NEW ERA IN GERMANY. LONDON, September 6. For Germany, the fixing of the final date of the evacuation of the Rhineland —June 30, 1930—is the transcendent result of the Hague Reparations Conference, says the Berlin correspondent of the “ Times.” It was the vital aim, and now that it has been achieved, the feeling is that the country is beginning a new era.

SON OF NEGRO SLAVE
LONDON, September 4
Shakespeare’s Moor will be played in London by a negro for the first time when Paul Robeson takes the part of Othello in a forthcoming elaborate production. Robeson, who will receive a weekly salary running into three figures, is said to be the largest paid London actor in a straight part. He is a talented actor and singer, and is of magnificent,physique. His father, who was a slave, escaped from a Carolina plantation at the age of 15 and became a Methodist minister.
