Haggitt, charged with negligently driving a motor, was fined leu pounds sterling and prohibited from driving, for twelve months. Eight charges of theft of goods, including tools, overcoats, clocks and other (articles to a total value of £l9 11s, were admitted in the Magistrate’s Court by a labourer, Arthur Victor Jones. Accused stated he had committed the offences because he was hard up. Two offences had been committed from churches while the services were in progress, ■ , “On several occasions I could have taken more than I did, but I only took enough to keep-ime going,” said the accused from the dock. ■ He was sentenced to three months on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent.
