The Sydney “Evening News” states: The Governor-General of the Commonwealth has granted a dissolution. ' The Federal capital, Canberra, is excited at the prospect of an immediate / election. •'••’• ‘" Y • •• ■- —-— Y PREMIER’S STATEMENT. •x;. !• •• CANBERRA, Sept. 12. When the’ Federal House of Representatives met this afternoon, Mr S. Bruce, Prime Minister, announced that the Governordeneral had agreed to grant a dissolution whi v :h will 1, affect only the House of Representatives; and - will not affect the Federal' Senate’, i Mr Bruce said he had informed His Excellency ’ that the House had de- , manded 'that the Government’s Maritime Industries Bill, which would abolish the Arbitration Court, should be submitted to the people; and,' as there \. was no machinery for a referendum, the only' alternative was an election.
