THE COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL

FOURTH DAY. The Competitions were continued to-day in pleasant weather. The attendance was good in the forenoon, and large in the afternoon. Much interest was evinced in the School Choirs, The Slate School competing this year against the Convent School. T b'e latter again carried the verdict. There was a fine set of recitations in character by juveniles 12 to 15, a high level being reached by some of the young performers. The stories without words provoked roars of laughter. Recitation, 15 to 18, ‘‘To Althea from Prison.” The competitors were’ Jessie May Veale, Noelle Dunford, Flo Snarkes, Phyllis Bond, Robert Galbraith. Brian McDiarmid.

Jessie Veale was placed third with 150 marks, and N. Dunford and B. McDiarmid were recalled in the afternoon for first and second places; 'Song for Girls. 14 to 18. Own Selection.
