BODY FOUND IN CREEK. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association.] PAHIATUA, September 12. i The body of Mrs Charlotte Helen Burgess, aged 73, was found in the town creek this morning. She was a widow, an old resident and leaves a family. The deceased had been in ill health. PROFESSOR’S DEATH. DUNEDIN, September 11. Obituary.—Rev. R. E. Davies, Professor of New Testament studies, Knox College. COMPENSATION AWARD. WELLINGTON, September 12. An award in a case in which John Randolph Johnston, builder and joiner, claimed £10,850 compensation from tne City Council engineer, for land fronting Alma Lane, taken in connection with the new milk • station, was delivered in the compensation Court to-day by the Chidf Justice. The claimant was awarded as ■ compensation on all counts £6,700. Costs to be paid by respondent to claimant £lO5, with other expenses, in default of agreement by the Registrar. The fee of claimant’s assessor £42 was also to be paid by. respondent.
