tion for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which
comes to the Princess Theatre on, FritV day, and which has pet | idea for amotion picture ever since the \ filming of his “ The Big Parade.” w Critics who have seen “ The Crowd ”, pronounce. it to be as great in its way as the war picture. It is a slice' out of everyday life,- great in its realism and its truth. There isn’t a character in it any higher than a petty official in a large business firm, yet the teem with , drama, heart throbs and
human interest., A large cast was required to ; film it, including a mob of extras larger than any ever betfpre used for any liut a war picture. 1 Scenes were built on a lavish 'scale,'one of them being a reproduction of famous Coney Island. Other scenes, including one using Niagara Falls, were taken on the original locations. Boardman and James Murray head a noteworthy cast. The story; was written by Director Vidor and took more than a year im making^^ l " ??• The supports on Friday include a topical, comedy, and the .ne.w. serial. On next June Collyef in “Me Gangster.”
