BOMBER JOY RIDE. LONDON, July 22. 'Sentenice was Ipromwlgjatod yesterday on William Baldwin, the aircraftman known to his comrades as “Stanley” Baldwin, who pleaded guilty at a court-martial to doing damage to an aeroplane to the extent of £3,150 at Worthy Down Aerodrome, near Winchester.
He was sentenced to nine # months’ detention with throe months remission. He will serve his sentence in a military prison. This indicates that liis services will he retained in the Air Force. Baldwin flew off with a seven-tons bombing machine although lie had never piloted a machine before. He crashed on' his return after a 100minutes flight-, damaging the underpart of the machine, but escaping uninjured.
