A message from Vigo states: Preserving admirable order and discipline, all the 60 passengers and 150 officers and crew safely landed when the Nelson liner “Highland Pride” struck a rock outside the harbour, in a heavy rainstorm. All the life-saving orders were carried out wan precision and calmness, the passengers taking their cue from tne stewards, and calmty collected their values and boarded the allotted boats. When all the passengers were afloat Capt. Alford shouted from the bridge the name of the hotel where they would [ind accommodation ready. Meanwhile tthe engineers and firemen drew the fires to prevent an explosion. Trawlers, summoned by wireless, towed the boats to port, all arriving sound, but drenched with rain. The ship stuck fast on the rocks, and is badly holed and half submerged. The captain was loth to leave the ship, and his officers seized him and carried him to a boat.
