ADDITIONS TO MASSEY college. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON -N., - Sept. 9. VThe work., of constructing .qjiditionpl buildings at Massey . College will proy vide work for several local tradesmen. Fifty will be engaged within a*, few days and one hundred when the work is in full swing. The majority will be tradesmen such as carpenters. -Tlie work at the coliege involves an expenditure of about £90,000 and consists of a refectory and main science block. BURGLAR ENTERS GROCERY SHOP. .PALMERSTON N.j Sept. 7. The premises of E. C. Hammond, grocer, in Chelwopd Street, were broken into last night and cash and cigarettes of a total value of £lO wore taken Mr Hammond, who does not reside on the, premises, was informed by neighbours that a crash was heard at one. o’clock this morning, and it is believed that it was the noise of the burglar making his entry. JOURNALISTS' ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON. Sept. 8. Nine delegates representing affiliated bodies of the four provinces were' present at tho annual conference of the New Zealand journalists’s Association held in Wellington on Saturday. Many subjects having a bearing on the interests of journalists were discussed, and Auckland was again chosen as the headquarters of tlie association for next year. The election of officers resulted as follows: President. R. H. Melville; vicepresident, Mr G. L. Stanl.rook; secretary, Mr J. M. Mackenzie; treasurer, Mr T. Clarkson. GIRL BOUND AND GAGGED. Mavis Hay, aged nineteen, living with Her parents in ,Featherston Street, was bound and gagged by two intruders this morning while the rest of the family were at church, ihe was seized in the bathroom, her arms being bound with a towel and her feet with a skein of tyool and an apron was used as a gag. __ • e :i - • After resultless ransacking the t'yo departed without releasing the gjrl, who in ten minutes loosened the gag and called for help.
