N.Z. LADIES’ FINAL. (BETWEEN SOUTH ISLAND TEAMS. By Telegraph—Per Press Association.} GISBORNE, Sept. 5. , The New Zealand Ladies’ Hockey Championship tournament reached its seventh day when the conclusion of play saw the two section leaders, Southland was the leader in A. section and Canterbury in Bv section, they being the teams to fight out the final to-morrow. In view of the interesting stage of the games, a very large attendance was present, estimated to be about two thousand five hundred. The weather was fine and the grounds were in good order. The principal interest centred in the Ruahine v. Southland match, both in the A. section, these teams never having sustained a defeat; and in the Canterbury-Wellington match in the B. section, each of which teams had had no losses. Both matches were keenly contested, and aroused the spectators to heights of enthusiasm, the result being in doubt in each instance until tne final whistle. Results: SECTION A. i '

Poverty Bay A. beat Rotorua by 3 goals to 1. South Canterbury beat Bush hy 1 goal to 0. Southland heat Ruahine by 2 goals to 1.

SECTION B

Hawke’s Bay beat Poverty Bay by 9 goals to 0. Eastern (Southland) beat Wairarapa by 4 goals to 1. Canterbury beat Wellington by 3 goals to 2. The aggregate results are: A section: Southland 6 wins, Ruahine 5, Poverty Bay A. 4, Rotorua 3, South Canterbury 1 win and a draw, Bush 1, Auckland A. no wins 1 draw. B. section: Canterbury 6 wins, Wellington 5, Hawke’s Bay 3 and a draw, Eastern (Southland) 3, Wairarapa 2 and a draw, Auckland B. 1, Poverty Bay no wins.
