The Christchurch “Times” reports that the .price of fat cattle, which has been more or less on the up grade for the last two months, rose more sharply than it has done for , some years at the Addington stock sale on Wednesday. A very small yarding was insufficient for butchers’ requirements, and the consequent keen, (competition saw an advance of from £3 to £3 10s a head in good cattle, and from £2 10s to £3 a head in the case of secondary sorts. Good prime beef made f*om 58s to 61s per 1001 b. The competition was keenest since the “ boom ” times. Vealers maintained necerit high ' rates, while fat sheep showed a slight easing in all hut the best classes. Fat pigs maintained their recent level of prices.
