TILLET’S ADDRESS

AT T.U. CONGRESS. United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) • i ■' LONDON, Sep. 3. The Daily Telegraph says Ben Tillers address will.be read with no little ■ astonishment. His darling hope is np longer to smash the present organisation of industry, but to acquire for the representatives of Labour a recognised place in its direction and control. If the requisite machinery is , once firmly established, the status of trade unionism will be immensly improved. 1 Tile Daily Chronicle also expressess the opinion that organised Labour has moved a long way from its errors of 1926. “We agree with Mr Tiliett that everything possible should be done to build up tiuide with the Dominions. He throws . out the practical suggestion that inter-Dominion conferences of organised Labour should be held.”

The Morning Post says: We gather from the .address that at last the Trade Union Congress begins to realise the importance of. the British Empire to British workmen. If the Congress realises its value to the workers, let it restrain Mr Snowden from doing away with preference to the Dominions. TRe Daily News entitles its leader: “Trade Unions Look Ahead.” It specially approves of periodic conferences of 'organised Labour throughout the Empire. '
