Sir F. D. Bell withdrew his motioh regarding recommendations of officers who recently reported bn civil serrtbo and furnace in Samoa. The Council rose at 4.20.

THE HOUSE.

The House of Representatives met tit 2.30 p.m. T . The Summer Time Bill and Law Practitioners Amendment (Solicitor’s Fidelity Guarantee Fund) Bill were introduced by message from the Legislative Council and read a first time. Land Law Amendment Bill was introduced by Governor-General’s message and read a first time. , ;

The debate on Mr Samuel’s breach ;of privilege motion, was continued and/at ’> the suggestion of the Prime Minister, Mr Samuel withdrew his motion and Sir Joseph Ward then moved that the matter be referred to a Privilege Com- 1 mittee, consisting of Sir J. G. Ward, Messrs J. G. Coates, H. E. Holland (Leader of the Labour Party), G. W. Forbes, K. Williams and J. O’Brien, the committee to report ih three weeks. The motion was adopted. The financial debate ‘ was continued by Messrs Field and Nash. .
