WOMEN’S FASHIONS
STRIKING CHANGES
(United Press Association —By Electric I Megrapb—Copyright).
(Received this day at 8 a.m.) LONDON, September 3
Women buyers are frankly alarmed at the new season’s fashions at Olympia to-day, which seem suddenly to have reverted to the type of a quarter of a century ago, such as tucked in blouse, trailing skirts, “hits and pieces,” old-time waistline. Some evening frocks have upwards of a thousand yards of tulle composed entirely of minute frills, ankle length. Obviously such fashions are good for trade, but whether the model'll, woman will consent to turn herself into an oldfashioned lmllet girl in order to create industrial prosperity, is questionable.
' One writer cynically predicts that next year he exepets a revival of the straw boater and high, starched linen collar.
