TRAIN DERAILED
IN SOUTH OTAGO. (By Telegraph—Press Association). DUNEDIN, September 3. Between 3.30 and 4 o’clock this afternoon the' goods train from Clinron met with an accident at Toiro, six miles south of Balclutha, resulting in the derailment of about 10 trucks. The mishap caused a delay of about an' hour to the midnight express from Invercargill to Christchurch, and also to the .Dunedin-Invercargill express, the passengers having to tranship at the scene of the accident;. It is expected that repairs will be effected before morning. No further particulars are available to-night. ■ FURTHER PARTICULARS .DUNEDIN, Sept. 4. It was eleven, not fourteen meat waggons that were derailed in an accident near Balclutha. last evening. The l<ne was cleared at 11.20 this morning bv a relief gang from Invercargill. The train was a long one of 40 waggons, with a passenger carriage at rear. Fortunately the guard noticed a meat wagon swaying dangerously just before the smash and applied the AVestinghouse brakes from his van. The passengers felt no shock. A similar accident, close to the same spot, occurred some time in November of last year, and it was the same driver and guard in that smash.
