LONDON, August 30. The “Daily Express” special cor-
respondent at Jerusalem describes
the capture by British forces to-day, ■r qfi Calonw. He says: “The troops \ with fixed bayonets, surrounded the base of the hill on which Calonia ' stands. They were accompanied by
reinforcement of Palestine police, also \ by armoured cars' and by fighting aeroplanes. The village was stormed.
- “ In addition to inflicting casualties —the number •< which is not known—the forces captured one hundred prisoners and also large quantities of arms arid ammunition. For three days Arab sharpshooters had been daily sniping froiri roofs here, terrifying the countryside, ! while: they nightly made raids on Jewish ' colonies, burning and looting.”, 'V ’'j
