BIBLE IN HOTELS

DISTRIBUTION IN DOMINION

AUCKLAND, Aug. 28

Steady progress with the task of placing Bibles in bedrooms throughout the leading hotels in New Zealand, for the use of the travelling public, is being made by the Dominion Council ol the British and Foreign Bible Society, which took the enterprise in hand some months ago. Similar provision of Bibles in the hotels in Scotland, Canada, United States, and Australia has met with a welcome.

The Rev. David Calder, Dominion Secretary of the Society, is at present visiting Auckland to complete ariangementes for the distribution of volumes here. Already about 1009 have been placed, including 550 in Wellington hotels ,and others in Kaikoura, Blenheim, Nelson, Masterton, Palmerston North, and Wanganui. Arrangements are in train to place them in Hawcra, New Plymouth, and Hamilton, and later they will be distributed in Christchurch, Dunedin and other Southern centres. The volumes are handsomely hound iii leather and the print is clear lonic type. Mr Calder hopes Within 12 months to have 5000 of these Bibles at the disposal of hotel visitors throughout the Dominion.
