The probability of an increase in the bank rate is indicated in tile half-year-ly report of the Commonwealth bank. 1 The report refers to the unsettled condition of the American money market and then emphasizes that although the bank rate remains at five and a half per cent, in London opinion is speculating upon the possibility of a hardening rather than a reduction of tho bank rate, which the report states is hound to luiVe some reflection in Aus tralia.
