SYDNEY STRIKE LEADERS
EVIDENCE AGAINST THEM.

SYDNEY,, August 29. Startling evidence was given at the Police Court to-day in the proceedings against Garden, Reeves ai}d the other timber strike leaders, , whose case has been before the Court';for several days, they being charged with conspiracy to molest and intimidate free labourers. "£•
Roy Barlett, a former strike picket, gave evidence that he was onp of. twenty or thirty strikers present at a secret meeting at the Trades Hall some time ago. Reeves addressed them saying: “We .are here for the purpose of forming gangs to do - ;, away with volunteers. You have, got to break their bones. That, is the only way by which you can :*• lieep them out of the -yards;”: Beeves, said’ 1 witness, urged them to try to get the jobs at the timber yards,, buyst up the machinery, and disorganise, the work as miicli as possible. Witness . said he decided to take no part ’kith these gangs, but instead, he applied for, and got his former "job back, since when, he said, he' has carried. a revolver, realising the risk he would rUn if he became a volunteer -worker.
