MURDER CHARGE

AUCKLAND, Augl 29.
At the Police Court George Caffrey, 34, a New Zealand labourer, was charged that on August 2nd.. last he murdered Thomas Levy 7,, a' -middleaged man. The labourer was employed by the Fletcher. Construction’Company. The charge -arose out of an affray in a Nelson Street house.. When-re-moved from the house,.by the. ambulance Levy was] bleeding from a wound in the groin) and he died before, arrival 1 at the hospital.. There was.a wound in the right side too. A tourniquet had been.applied.;.;] > , Doctor Gilmour 1 pathyologist, said in addition to the wound in Levy’s groin, ; about‘24 inches deep] which- had severed the femora .artery, there were two Knife wounds On the left fopearm. The police- produced •- an old claspknife, with a blade about five inches long and • ground to ,-a point, .with which, Dr Gilmour said, the wounds described could'have been caused.
