A TE KUITT BLAZE

(By Telegraph—Press Association).

TE KUITI, August 29.

A disastrous fire occurred iri King Steet just after midnight; when a large wooden store owned by Barraud and Abraham, was completely destroyed with all its contents! In front, was an iron constructed building used by Barraud and Abraham as offices, and Ronald Cooke and Company as a grocery shop. This was badly gutted and the stock destroyed by smoke and water. *y Part of a wooden building at the back was used ■, by Cooke as a bulk store and part by Barraud and Abraham, the latter’s stock being valued at about £SOO. Cooke’s stock , was valued at a much larger sum. These insurances are not available, but the buildings were insured for two thousand in the New Zealand Insurance Coy. The cause of tlie fire is unknown, but it is supposed to have started in packing cases outside the buildings. , •
