Mr Snowden’s rejection of the latest offer has again thrown the Conference into chaos.
The French emphasise that the four Powers have no further offer to make, and the initiative has been transferred to Britan. They point out that Mr Snowden has nevei; yet intimated tho figure he would accept. ' " M. Loucheur describes Mr Snowden’s refusal as a painful surprise. He cannot believe Britain will persist in refusing to come to a reasonable agreement. If the Young Plan is redrafted the Powers will enter upon a perilous adventure; so France refuses to 00-opei’ate in a demolition of the Young Plan hut awaits Mr Snowden’s proposals. A French correspondent, telegraphing to the Daily Telegraph from The Hague, says the impression to-night xs that Mr Snowden will riot be satisfied unless eighty per cent. - of Britain’s claims are met, according to his own valuation.
