WINE SALOON RAIDED
POLICE CONSTABLE WOUNDED,
(Auetralian Press Association) (Received this day at 9.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 28. . When a police party raided a wine saloon at Clybucca,, near Kempsey, a man, stated to be the proprietor of. the saloon, produced a double-barrelled gun, fired eight shots at Police Constable Foley and wounded him in the leg, but the man was arrested at the revolver point.
. A police report states the man refused to open the door to them and later he appeared on the balcony and told them to clear out. When the constables made a move] towards the door the man opened fire. The police withdrew but- later, ‘ .surrounded the house and gained admittance. Later William May was,.charged with shooting Foley with intent to murder him. . -i-J'
