MORPETH’S WIN.

Ivo Whitton (Australian champion) and Sloan Morpeth (New Zealand) staged a “thriller” at .Seaton links to-day, in ideal weather, Morpeth scoring a brilliant win. . , AYliitton was two up on the moriiing play, increasing his lead so , five in tthe afternoon. Morpeth responded ; v magnificently, arid at the thirty-fifth lie was one up. At the next hole he missed a short putt for a win. The pair then went to the third rouipl. The excitement was Intense. Until the forty-second, the holes were halv,. ed. At the forty-second, Morpeth . put his second to the green, while .. Whitton was bunkered on the right, the latter needing two putts; and Morpeth holed at par for a spectacular hole. At the thirty-ninth, a bottle-neck green, between two craters, 280 yards from the tee, Morpeth played his iron „ and got a beauty, Whitton pulling a trifle and staying'short on the sand, thense going adroitly on to the green ; in two putts. Morpeth had here a chance to win. His chip was too long however, and he tipped the ball a foot from the pin, getting a half, Morpeth had a great reception. Among the professionals, Bissett heat Howard 3 and 2, Thomson heat Spence 2 and 1 up, James heat' MeLnohlap 2up and-1, Stewart beat McMahon 4 and-3, ' :
