GISBORNE, August 27.
Rene Kinnamont, age'd 18, was knocked off a cycle and seriously injured'. last night by a motor lorry, which overtook her riding homeward, at dusk. The girl was found later in an empty house, formerly occupied by her family, half a mile from the scene of the accident. She told a story of being picked up by the driver of a closed car, but apparently she had a confused recollection of riding Jfor some distance in the lorry. It is thought! the driver of the lorry let her down at the gate of the deserted dwelling, believing that to be her home, and thal the , girl was not badly- hurt. , , Site was later admitted to the hospital and is believed to.be suffering from a fractured skull. The driver did not feport the accident to the police, and an early report s suggested the utmost callousness, but later information dispelled this suggestion. -
