He missed long rutting -by inches, a.ndi was unlucky. His wonderful drives were a feature of his play. Eyre and Stewart tied for second place .with 314 each, doing 83,.and 80 respectively. Stewart made a remarkable recovery with a brilliant 73 in the third round, playing in .foul wea-, ther. Evre was weak ,at putting. Morpeth lapsed into errors., returning 85. He thus dropped from the lead, to tenth.
