WEDDING BELLS

KENNEDY—ALDERTON

A pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Patrick’s Church, Greymouth, yesterday morning, the contracting parties being Jane, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A. E. Alderton, of Blaketown, find William Martin, second son of Mr and Mrs J. J. Kennedy, of Greymouth. Rev. Father Gregory officiated and celebrated the Nuptial Mass. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, was attired in a dainty frock of white taffeta silk, trimmed with georgette, and wore a pearl girdle, and an embroidered veil with a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a pink and white shower bouquet. The bridesmaids were Miss Evelyn Leslie (Hokitika), who wore a green georgette frock, and Miss Alma Ryan (cousin of the bridegroom) in pale pink georgette. Both wore inch caps to match,, and earned .spray boi£ quets. The two little,, flower gills, Misses Noreen Kennedy and Esme. Moore, were daintily dressed in mauve organdi If rilled frocks and .carried violet posies. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Alan Kennedy, as best man, and Mr Hugh Brown as groomsman. 'After the ceremony, the _guests were entertained at a reception at Harker’s Tearooms, when the usual toasts were honoured. The bride’s gift to the bridegroorfi was a solid leather suitcase, and the bridegroom’s gift to the bride, a Fox fur, and to the flower girls, gold signet rings. The newly-married couple were the recipients of valuable presents, includ'ng several cheques. They left by the express en route for Auckland where the honeymoon will be spent. The bride travelled in a smart green coat, with hat to match.
