CANTERBURY EDUCATION BOARD.

MR R. WILD ELECTED

CHAIRMAN

CHRISTCHURCH, August 22.

The annual meeting of the Canterbury Education Board wias held yesterday morning. Present: Messrs .W. H. Winsor (retiring chairman). W. A. Banks, G. W. Armitage, C. . S. Thompson, E. H. Andrews, T. Hughes, J. G. Gow, W. P. Spencer, H. J. Bignell, R. Wild and J. W. Preen. Mr Preen was welcomed on taking his seat as one of the representatives of the Timaru ward in place of Mr J. Maze, who. had resigned on account of ill-health. The secretary took the chair for the election of chairman. Mr Bignell proposed Mr Wild. The nomination was. seconded by Mr Btinks and supported-, by other members. Mr Wild was unanimously elected to the position. The following Standing Committees were elected. Appointments Messrs Andrews,i Gow, Banks, Hughes (chairman), and, Johnson. Buildings—Messrs Armitage, Big-, nell, Preen, Spcmcer, Thompson (chairman). and Winsor. Agricultural, Manual and Technical—Messrs Armitage, Banks (chairman), Bignell, Hughes, Preen, Spencer and Winsor. > 1 Normal—Messrs Andrews, Banks, Gow (chairman), Hughes, Johnson and Winsor. Finance —-Messrs Andrews, H. J. Bignell (chairman), Hughes, Preen, Spencer.and Thompson.
