Morpeth, not Horton, as cabled today, and Hattersley, who were paired, but failed in the National Foursome at the Golf Championship, at Adelaide, are described in the press as among the longest, .hitters in golf today. Morpeth, says a’ Melbourne newspaper, is, a- mighty hitter, he being generally twenty yards ahead of Apnorley in his tee shots. The New Zealand champion achieved something worth while to consistently out-distance the Sydney player/ as Apperley hits no mean ball when he gets it properly. Rufus Stewart, who won the professional match, as cabled yesterday, with rounds of 74 and 72, beat Bolger (72, 5) by one stroke, and Eyre (75, 72) by one stroke. The youthful Bolder produced some of the best golf of the day. The New Zealander Shaw, who did 74 in the first round, finished badly, anti took 81 for the second round. morpeth’s Good record.
