HEAD-ON collision. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association.] HAMILTON, Aug. 19. A car, driven by R. H. Montgomery, Auckland, collided at Taupiri yesterday with another driven by Dr Fairclough; Auckland. Montgomery, while coming from Auckland, was overtaking a third car on a bend -when he met Dr Fairclough going north. A head-on collision resulted, both cats being ruined. The only person injured was Mrs Montgomery, who was cut about the face by flying glass. She was treated at Ngariiawahia and afterwards proceeded to Auckland. COST OF LIVING BONUS. WELLINGTON, Aug. 19. 'the President of the Association of Federated Superannuated Public Servants of New Zealand has received notice from the Secretary of the PublicService Superannuation Board that the Government has decided to continue the cost of living bonus to those superannuitants whose allowances are less than £IOO a year for a further term of six months from September 50th. next. SEAMAN SEVERELY INJURED. AUCKLAND, Aug. 19. Believed to have struck an anchor when he fell from the Marama at the Central Wharf this morning, A. Ellis, a seaman, received a severe head in- •. jury and shock. Two waterside workers plunged in to rescue Ellis from the harbour. Ellis is a single man 27 years of age, and has been residing at the Sailors’ Home. Information from the Hospital stated that the exact extent of Ellis’s injuries was not known.
