D'ROATE “BLIND.”
DON’S DRAAIATIC RECORD
LONDON, August 9
Taking the hanking on the Brooklands track, built for a speed of 120 miles an hour, at over 135 m.p.h., and diving into the straight at nearly 150 m.p.h., Kaye Don, the noted racing motorist, driving a Sunbeam car, was suddenly blinded by a stream of oil from a burst pipe spraying his goggles. The huge holiday crowd held their breath as the car slowed down and zig-zagged. They did not realise that a drama was occurring in the speeding ear, in which Don’s passenger tore off his goggles. Even then, at the speed they were travelling, anything might have happened. The fountain of hot oil continued spurting in Don’s face, despite the passenger’s efforts at protection. Nevertheless, Don completed the lap at a speed of 134.24 m.p.li. His eyes were badly inflamed, necessitating medical treatment. He says that he is sorry that his mishap prevented him getting the best out of his car.

Thus the tables have been turned with a vengeance. British dramatists have not only w r on the Anglo-Amori-. can theatre war, hut are also providing the army of occupation. I
