(Received this day at 9.25 a.m.) PERTH, August 20.

Referring to the earthquake at Broome on Saturday, the 'Government Astronomer, Mr Curlewis, said it was evident that a severe dislocation of the ocean floor had occurred about four hundred miles vest of" North West Cape. The ' Seismograph boom swung over six inches, which is; a-very large displacement. The most severe earthquake reported within a thousand miles of Perth was in 1926, when a similar seaquake jarred the--steamer Omrah throughout her whole length- when four hundred miles from North West Cape.
