The Canterbury Jockey Club for the third day of its Grand National meeting, had the weather fine, with a nor’west win'd blowing. The track was in good order, and the attendance was large. The tote investments for the day were £53,057 against £47,531$ or the same day last year, the total -ft* the meeting .being £158,626-]-, compared with £139,835 last year; Result Longbeacli Handicap.—(l) Leader 1 (3) Roi de Val 2, (2) Blue Metal 3. Two lengths each way. Time 1.12 2-5. Aylesbury Steeplechase.—(l) Birkbeck 1, (2) Kaikaku- 2, (3) Silver Light 3. Won by six lengths; ten lengths. Time 5.22 1-5.
Sydenham Hurdle Handicap.—(9) Red Fuchsia 1, (8) Elysianor 2, (10) Perle de Leon 3. Won/by two lengths; half a length. Time / 3.37 4-5. Styx Hurdle Handicap.—(3) Aurora Borealis 1, (7) Gala Day 2, (6) Paris 3. Won by a head; three lengths. Time 2.55 2-5.
Lincoln Steeplechase Handicap.—(l) Wiltshire 1, (3) King’s Guard 2, (4) Fabriano 3. Won by six lengths; four lengths. Time 5.56 2-5. Heathcote Handicap.—(3) Black Duke 1, (5) Taboo 2, (1) Otairi 3. Won by hair a length; a length. Time 1.42. lledcliffs Handicap.—(2) Honeycomb 1, (1) Narrative 2, (5) Glyn Dhu 1 \ Won by a length; two lengths. Time 1.30 1-5.
Selwyn Handicap.—(l4) Subdivision 1, (2) Bonogne 2, (6) Kaiti 3. Won by two lengths; a head. Time 1.26 4-5.
BRISBANE MEETING. BRISBANE, August 18. The King’s Cup, 1]- miles resulted: Valparaiso 1, Royal Flavour 2, Guncraft 3. Won by a short length; and one and a-half lengths. Time 2.20]-. A Queensland record. Seatown was sixth and Oratrix tenth. ROSEHILL RACES. SYDNEY, August 18. At the Rosehill rajees fihe hurdle race resulted: Bonhomme 10.0 (Bush) 1, Scribe 9.0 2, St. General 9.2 3. Ten started. Won by a head. Time 3.40.
