CHRISTCHURCH, August 15
The tote investments were £43,483, compared with £31,209 on the corresponding day last year. National Hurdles.—(3) Mangani 1, (4) Aberfeldy 2, (1) Lancer 3. Scr,: Kawini, Nukamai. Won by two lengths. Time 4.44 3-5. E. Shaw fractured a collarbone when Young Thurnham fell in the Beaufort Steeples.
The National Hurdles was won by Mangani, ridden by H. Dulieu, by two lengths. He came to the front half a mile from home and took charge at the entrance to the straight, winning comfortably from Aberfeldy. Mister Gamp, the favourite, was fifth after starting slowly. ; August Handicap.—(l) Gold Cure 1, (4) Royal Saxon 2, (8) Maui 3. Won by three lengths; a length. Time 1.14. Sumner Handicap.—(l) Honeycomb 1, (7) Hounslow 2, (3) Shortly'3. Won by two and a-lmlf lengths; a length. Time 1.43.
Islington Handicap.—(7) Royal Game 1, (4) Courageous 2, (9) Full Feather 3. Won by a neck ; a length. Time 2.10
