VICIOUS STALLION
TRAINER BITTEN

AUCKLAND', August 13
A'trainer who has stallions to prepare for racing has to be ever alert, as it is always possible that such a horse will become vicious. When drying down Torpedo Huon after working the horse at Epsom his trainer (McMahon) was caught unawares. The pacing stallion suddenly grabbed McMahon with his teeth across the bridge of his nose and inflicted a wound which required several stitches.

At a meeting of tire Executive Committee of the Board of Governors of the Kirkpatrick Masonic Institute Ifor Girs, it was .decided:.to’ make a substantial addition,;to the buildings; to provide additional accommodation.; The buildings are now. over-crowded, and the board :is unable, to; accommodate further .applicants* rind . five girls are waiting admission, all being, necessitous cases. «;•
It was decided: “That as tlie present income of the board is not sufficient for the present' requirements, and in view of tlie necessity of providing the .guaranteed additional income to meet the growing needs of the institute, an appeal be mad'e to all Masonic lodges in New Zealand for financial assistance.”
