PLAN TO 'BEAT FOREIGNERS. (United Press Association.— By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) OTTAWA, August 14. An Inter-Empire Trade Conference, as a means of starting a drive by manufacturers to co-operate and consolidate trading efforts to meet foreign invasion, was urged by the Hon. Frank Oarrell, a member .of the Quebec Legislative Council, before the Canadian Board of Trade. He suggested several subjects for discussion at the'conference as follows: The removal of irritating barriers now retarding trade within the Empire. The creating of a better understanding within the Dominions on economic buying with the Empire through educational propaganda in all the industrial centres of the Empire. The promotion of a drive to adopt, or improve upon, modern methods for the lowering of manufacturing costs, aided by advertising and salesmanship.
