APPOINTMENT APPROVED. (By Telegraph—Press Association). WELLINGTON, • Aug. 15. Cabinet has approved of the appointment of Mr Dennehy to the'position of assistant-General Manager of Railways in succession to J. S. Hunter, who was appointed Commissioner of Transport some time ago. , ROBBERY. WITH VIOLENCE. CHRISTCHURCH. August 15: As a 'sequel to the alleged bagsnatching at the racecourse yesterday, George Powell, also Philip Edward Fowler, appeared to-day, and was charged with robbing with violence. He was remanded for a week.
