FRENCH AEROPLANE
VISIT TO BLENHEIM. IBy Telegraph—Per Press Association J BLENHEIM, August 14. ; Extraordinary public interest Was centred in the special visit to Blenheim of the French cruiser Tourville’s huge Cams amphibian aeroplane, and it is Interesting to note that when her wheels touched the ground at Woodbourne field it was her first ground landing since leaving France. The pilot, Lieut. I. Z. -M. Bellands, who was accompanied by Major L. M. .Isitt, Acting-Director of Air Services, and a mechanic, was welcomed by his Worship the Mayor and officials of the Marlborough Aero Club, and #ie part were subsequently entertained in the town. Lieut. Bellands, replying to the welcome, said there was no aerodrome in, the whole of France to even begin to compare with the Woodbourne field. The amphibian was met . halfway across the Straits by one of the Aero Club’s Moths and escorted to the field. rthe made a perfect take-off on her return journey to Wellington at 4.25 p,.m. Blenheim is the only town in New .Zealand to be visited.'!
