CLEARING SALE
At Evans G‘reek on Friday a clearing .sale of the stock and effects of Mr Barrett, who is leaving the-south, was conducted by W. Jefferies and Co. The attendance was large and representative of South Westland, and as the dairy herd were in excellent condition competition was keen. Cows due to profit at the end of the current month made up to 13J- guineas, while first calf heifers reached the 9 guinea limit, breeding sows reached £7 15s and porkers 29s 6d. <■" '
Excellent prices were' recorded for the farm implements and effects. The following sales were made: 2 cows at 13J guineas, 2 at lOgs, 2 at 13!,-gs, 1 at i at l3Jgs, 1 at 9£gs, 1, at 13jgs, 1 at 9]gs, 2 at lOilgs, 1 at 11 -Jgs, 1 at llgs, 2 at 9gs. 1 heifer (2 years) 9gs, 1 at Bgs, 1 at 7gs, 1 at Bsgs, 2 at 7\ gs, 1 at B£gs. 9 yearling heifers at 3£gs. Mr J. D. McKay’s farm was passed at £B7O.
