EXCELSIORS V. OLD BOYS (Westport.)

This game took place on Cass Square on Saturday afternoon before a small attendance. The ground was in good order with a heavy southerly blowing. Tile game was a very onesided one. Excelsiors playing with the wind at their hack started off scoring in the first five minutes and .tries came regularly till at half-time the score was 34. to 0. In the second half the visitors managed to- score two tries and Excelsiors added a further 17 points, the tally at no side being 51 to 6. The visitors were a weak lot/ hardly above junior form. For E-xcelsiors thirteen tries were scored, R. King (2), Thompson, Davidson, Nightingale (4), J. King, Freitas, Dougherty, Houston and Kelly. Hughes converted two, Davidson two, and Dougherty two. For Old Boys tries were scored by Findlay and McCrae. Mr A. Outbush was referee. JUNIOR GAME. The junior game between Rinni and Excelsiors was a much more oven game the play travelling up and down the field in rapid succession, the game ending in a draw, 6 all. Tries were scored for Excelsiors by Gillooly. (2), and for Rimu, Growcott, Agnew kicking a penalty. At Arahura after a very hard and interesting game Ross defeated Araliura by six points to five. Towards the end of. the game, the home backs improved, and as the result of good passing, points were scored for Nelson. Wells gained a try frbm half way after a good run and R. Fowler converted it. R. Fowler also kicked a goal from a mark.
