A DEBATE ON FILMS. “My complaint is that films constantly present us with a human picture that is a deliberate falsification of life. There is an idea that you must accept a lower standard of reality than in the other arts, and that you may trample on facts if you can thereby get your spectacular effects. This falsification is not in the direction of beauty,” said Miss Rebecca West, the novelist, in a speech reported in t}\o ‘.‘ Manchester Guardian.”
