UNITED PARTY
PUBLIC CONFIDENCE GAINED ORGANISING FOR POSSIBLE ELECTION CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 5. With a feeling of assurance that the electors are .more than ever favourable to .the United Party since the general election, ,Mr O. A. Moller, Dominion organiser of the party, arrived in Christchurch from Wellington yesterday morning, He will remain in Christchurch for four or five days and then will carry on party organisation work in Marlborough. Mr Moller stated last night that his recent organising work in Auckland, Taranaki and Otago had shown him unmistakably that the United Party had grown into greater favour with the public than ever before the election. He had met many erstwhile staunch Reformers who had high compliments to pay the party under Sir Joseph Ward. There was right through the country a quiet feeling of confidence in the calibre of the men who composed the United Cabinet, men who wloli'e -admittedly highly responsible, and sympathetic to the country’s needs. The general opinion throughout the Dominion, continued Mr Moller, was against a forced election. The great body of electors appeared to be entirely satisfied with the Government, in whose hands, they had placed the management of affairs. The United Party also was not seeking another election, feeling that it would be regrettable to have the Government forced into an early election, which would be costly to the country.
