HOUSEWIVES’ BOYCOTT
POTATOES DROP IN PRICE. (Australian Press Association). SYDNEY, Aug. 5. The. prohibitive price of. pptatoes has led to, a diminution in consumption, with the result that the price fell today by £4 per ton, to £lB. ■Merchants think the housewives’ boycott, coupled with . the threat to bring in New Zealand potatoes to Australia, is .largely responsible f<?r. the drop. Tasmanian growers disclaim responsibility for the- faniine prices, .and declave that a .bad season and, floods affected the' crops.
