A fire early on Sunday morning totally destroyed the totalisator house of the Dargaville Racing Club at Awa.v.no Point, together with a quantity of plant belonging to the Club and a quantity of household furniture owned by A. J. Finch, temporarily there. The origade turned out, but as the building is two miles from the town and out of the water supply area, nothing could be done, and the fire made a clean sweep.
