DRAFT OF AGREEMENT.

LONDON, August 3

The “ Daily Telegraph’s ” diplomatic correspondent affirms that no draft of the Anglo-Egyptian Treaty exists, but only a document embodying the points of agreement for submission to the full Cabinet next week.

It is expected that Ministers will readily assent, seeing that the proposals are already approved by Mr. MacDonald and Lord Thomson, as well as Mr Henderson.

EGYPTAN SATISFACTION, (Received this day at 10.30. a.m.) CAIRO, August^. Mahmoud Pasha telegraphed an appeal to the Egyptian people announcing that after long, difficult negotiations, he had succeeded in obtaining proposals for an Anglo-Egyptian settlement on the basis of a,friendly mutual understanding. He found the British Government sincerely anxious to meet European hopes and aspirations as long as compatible with the protection of Suez Canal and other British interests. He believed if the proposals were examined in the spirit of enlightened patriotism, (would be found far to exceed former proposals.
