The story was told in the .Supreme Jourt this morning off a man’s search in various parts of Australia for his little daughter, taken from Dunedin by bis wife, who went away with another man. , ' . j ' The case was a divorce petition in vhich William Matthew Brosnan sued sabella Agnes Brosnan on the grounds of misconduct, the co-respondent being George William Spiers. It was intimated that answers had not been filed by respondent or co-respondent and the amount olf damages had been agreed upon as £SOO from co-respondent as petitioner wanted. His wife left Dunedin ostensibly to visit Auckland in 1927 and when she failed to return ho went north to search and subsequently searched in Australia without result. Later at Wellington, in the Government Statistician’s Office, he saw a declaration made by Mr and Mrs Francis and the signatures were those of his wife and Spears, who was witness’s brother-in-law. He traced them to Westralia and recovered his daughter. Without leaving the box the jury awarded £SOO agreed upon and his Honour, Justice Kennedy, made a decree nisi.
